COMMON FILLING LINK TYPES

Your Filling Link May Look Different

Not every boiler or heating system is topped up in exactly the same way. These are some common examples you may recognise at home.

Standard External Filling Loop

Standard External Filling Loop

A common everyday filling loop. The flexible braided hose connects the mains water supply to the sealed heating system so the system pressure can be topped up.

Worcester Bosch Keyless Filling Link

Worcester Bosch Keyless Filling Link

A newer Worcester Bosch keyless arrangement. Instead of a separate braided hose or filling key, the blue lever underneath the boiler is used when topping up the system pressure.

Worcester Bosch Internal Filling Link — Keyed Type

Worcester Bosch Internal Filling Link — Keyed Type

An older-style Worcester Bosch internal filling link used across a number of models. The white plastic key fits into the filling link underneath the boiler before the filling valve is operated.

Ideal Internal Filling Link

Ideal Internal Filling Link

This type of internal filling-link arrangement is commonly seen across Ideal boilers, including models in the Logic and Vogue families. The filling controls sit underneath the boiler.

Vaillant ecoTEC Filling Link

Vaillant ecoTEC Filling Link

This style of built-in filling link is commonly found on Vaillant ecoTEC boilers. The filling controls are underneath the boiler and allow mains water into the heating circuit while the system pressure is monitored.

Glow-worm and Vaillant ecoTEC Pure style filling link

Glow-worm / Vaillant ecoTEC Pure Style Filling Link

This type of filling arrangement is commonly seen on Glow-worm boilers and on some Vaillant ecoTEC Pure installations. The filling controls sit underneath the boiler, so it can look quite different from a traditional external braided filling loop.

If yours looks different, check the boiler manufacturer's user instructions or send Steve a photo before operating anything you're unsure about.
