Heating & Plumbing Repairs

Most people who land on this page have one problem — and they just want it sorted.

Plumbing is boring and annoying.

I’m not going to bore you with a huge list of everything I do.

We could waffle on about leaking pipes, radiator valves, ball valves, stopcocks, pumps, heating controls, tanks, cylinders and all the other plumbing repairs I deal with — but you probably don’t care what the part is called. You just want the problem sorted.

If it’s a water pipe, heating pipe, gas pipe or waste pipe — or it’s connected to a pipe — I can help.

30+ Years of Experience

You don’t need to know what’s wrong. That’s my job.

I’ve got over 30 years of experience in plumbing and heating, and experience can make a difficult job look simple.

Sometimes people are expecting the worst — floors coming up, walls being opened or a big expensive repair — and I turn up and have it sorted in ten minutes. The relief when they realise “Is that it? Is it done?” is something I see all the time.

Not every plumbing problem is a nightmare. Sometimes the cause is something simple — even something as small as a bit of failed sealant around a shower tray. My job is to find the problem and fix what actually needs fixing, without making it bigger than it is.

Plumbing is boring and annoying. Even when you’re a plumber.

After more than 30 years doing this, I still can’t tell you why something can work perfectly one day and fail the next. A pipe can be fine yesterday — nobody’s touched it, nobody’s been near it — and today it suddenly starts leaking. I can’t tell you why that happens, but it does. That’s the real world.

And I understand the boring bit too. Nobody wants an unexpected bill because the heating has packed up, the toilet won’t flush, an overflow pipe is leaking or a kitchen tap won’t stop dripping. You’d probably rather spend your wages on dinner out, a day away or just about anything else.

Nobody gets their friends round to show them the new flush valve in the toilet. You just want everything to work properly — and when it doesn’t, you want it fixed without spending any more than you need to.

And it’s really annoying when you’ve already paid to have a new washing machine or dishwasher installed — and the installer won’t connect it because the isolating valve won’t turn off. They leave the new machine sitting in the kitchen and it feels like you’re having to pay twice for something you thought was already covered. I get called to this sort of thing a lot. That’s where I can step in, sort the plumbing problem and get you moving again.

That’s how I approach it: find the problem, explain what actually needs doing, do a good job and get everything working again as simply and cost-effectively as I can.

If it’s something that only happens every now and then, try to take a quick video while it’s actually happening and send it to me. There’s nothing more frustrating than me turning up and everything seems fine, only for the problem to come back after I’ve left. I don’t want you paying for a visit where we haven’t got to the bottom of it. A quick video gives me something real to work from.

Drainage

Internal drainage — yes. Specialist drain jetting — no.

I’m happy to deal with things like blocked kitchen sinks, slow-draining showers and internal waste pipework.

If the problem is an external blocked sewer or manhole that needs specialist high-pressure drain jetting, you’ll normally need a drainage specialist with the right equipment.

That way, you know from the start whether I’m the right person for the job.
